Some thoughts on PKGSRC on MAC OS X

I've used Linux for the last 9 years and I got used to so many free (as in beer) programs that I don't want to miss them anymore, even after my desktop migration from Linux & BSD to Mac OS X/Darwin.
Therefore, I've tried to find an good packagemanager which offers wide varity of programs in it's repository. For OS X, you've two well known choices: Either fink or macports.

Update Menu List

Hi,

this morning I've updated the menu. I've added two new menu sections: Mac OS X and MacBoorPro. So that all articles which are related to OS X or MacBookPro don't end up in the MacBook Section. Therefore you find the two articles claw-mail and kdevelop in the OS X section and the article about dragonfly in the MacBookPro Section now.

I hope I didn't break any links, but if you find a broke link, just leave a comment.

 Bye,

Mips

claws-mail on mac os x

As mentioned below I ‚ve moved to OS X as my Desktop operating system. The move from freebsd to OS X was pretty small, but I didn’t want to change my email client and I am so used to claws-mail that I desperatly searched for a goot way to stay with this client under os x. I have found to ways to get claws-mail to work and here you can read everything about it!

New Laptop ... new stories

Even though I had a lot of trouble wih my old, black Macbook, I’ve decided to get a new Mac and this time I got a MacbookPro, because I want to have enough power for all my daily task in one computer/laptop and not alway have one pc which is a number cruncher and a mobile laptop for writing and work while I am travlinng.

The MacbookPro ist he prefect choice for me. It’ ssolid, long enough battery life and a small number cruncher. Perfect to run not only vm while doing some heavy work.

That’s why I am writing articles about OS X and my MacbookPro again.

Update of Website Baker

 Hi,

I've just updated Website Baker to version 2.7.0. The update went smooth without any problems. So far everything seems to work. If something is broken just leave a comment and it will be fixed.

A few new articles are going to be published during the next days.

Draco Linux Desktop 0.3 VMWare Image

I don't know if you have ever heard about Draco Linux. It is a linux distribution which uses pkgsrc. So if you use *BSD a lot, you will feel a lot more comfortable using this distribution. The distribution doesn't have livecd (yet), therefore I have created a vmware image, based on draco desktop 0.3, for whoever want to test draco.
You can download the image here. I have used 7zip to compress the image.

User: draco

Have a lot of fun with darco ;)

Mirror for the NetBSD restore cd of the cobalt port
Hi,

batland.de is now mirroring the NetBSD restorecd of the cobalt port. Currently, you find the a NetBSD 4.0 restorecd here. The iso image was created by Rowdy. I am still searching for a new restorecd for -current. So contact me if you habe one. I can mirror that one, too.
